PODCAST: Pro-Choice Redditor Models Honest Reasoning by Exposing Media Bias Over Feticide Story

Download Audio MP3 | 00:15:14

It’s not often that I am pleasantly surprised by the way pro-choice people act on the internet. This is the story of a pro-choice redditor who looked into the details of an Indianapolis woman’s conviction for feticide and discovered that many media stories about this case were withholding crucial details. I encourage you to follow this person’s example by fighting against confirmation bias.

PODCAST: Bring Structure to Your Dialogues by Making Little Agreements

Little conversational agreements create clarity about the kind of conversation you’re having. This is especially helpful with difficult people, because it clarifies for you and for them that they’re being difficult and calls them to a higher standard of dialogue.

PODCAST: When and How You Should End Unproductive Conversations

Download Audio MP3 | 00:10:41

It is one of the questions I’m asked the most often. We’ve all experienced it. You’re talking to someone about abortion or something else and it’s just not going very well. You start doubting whether any good will come from letting the dialogue continue. If you do decide to end the conversation, you have to figure out how to graciously bring the dialogue to a close, which can also be tricky. How do you know? What factors should you consider?

PODCAST: When a Hypothetical Story Isn’t Hypothetical After All

Download Audio MP3 | 00:08:22

Sometimes when I talk about abortion with strangers, it feels like I’ve already had that conversation before, because they’re making familiar statements. But the truth is, I haven’t had that conversation before, because I haven’t heard that statement from that person before. Even though some statements are very common, different people mean very different things by them. A recent conversation I had with a hotel shuttle driver named “Mark” reminded me that while I may have heard the same words before, I hadn’t heard his story before. I think there’s a lesson you can learn from this situation that will help you have better dialogues with pro-choice people.
